Get help with using Yappr to create your personal podcast feed

General Questions

Is Yappr free?

Yes! Yappr is currently free to use in early-adopter beta. We plan to add paid features at a later time (gotta make that nut!)

What kind of articles can Yappr read?

Regular HTML web pages, PDF files, or plain text pages. Pages with many images may not provide good results, Yappr only reads the visible text on the page.

How long does it take to process an article?

Most articles are processed within 2-5 minutes, depending on length. Very long articles may take up to 10 minutes.

Can I use Yappr with any podcast app?

Yes! Yappr generates standard RSS feeds that work with any podcast app, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Overcast, Pocket Casts, and more.

Is there a limit to how many articles I can convert?

Currently, there are no limits, but we may implement reasonable usage limits in the future to ensure good performance for all users.

Can I share my podcast feed with others?

Your RSS feed URL is unique to your account. You can share it, anyone with the URL can access all of your converted articles.

What happens to old articles?

Yappr lists the 20 most recent articles. Currently, all processed articles are stored indefinitely.

Why won't Yappr load this URL?

There are several reasons why Yappr might have trouble processing a URL:

Common Issues:

  • Paywalled content: Articles behind login walls or subscriptions can't be accessed
  • Paywalled content: Some publishers like Medium work to prevent having their content scraped
  • JavaScript-heavy sites: Pages that load content dynamically may not extract properly
  • Social media posts: Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram posts typically don't work well
  • Video content: YouTube or other video URLs won't extract readable text
  • Very short articles: Extremely brief content may not provide enough text for audio

What works best:

  • Blog posts and news articles from major publications
  • Medium to long-form content
  • Wikipedia articles
  • Documentation and tutorial pages
  • Research papers and academic content (if publicly accessible)

Troubleshooting:

  • Try accessing the URL in an incognito/private browser window to check for paywall issues
  • Ensure the URL is complete and properly formatted (starts with http:// or https://)
  • For articles behind soft paywalls, try finding the same content on a different site
  • If processing fails repeatedly, check your dashboard for specific error messages
